the train wreck

Yes folks... today's excitement was a train-semi truck wreck and derailment. Those of you familiar with Guo know his love and fascination with trains, so you can imagine his interest in the news when it was right here in town. He couldn't wait to know absolutely every bit of information I could find for him. Sources said, of course the road was closed off and I wasn't sure how close we could get to safely view, but I did promise after my physical therapy appointment we would try to see for ourselves.
He was so good waiting for me, however, I was informed when I stopped for a Starbucks after PT that I could drink coffee anytime. It WAS time to go look at the train wreck. LOL
We got within about a couple of blocks of the wreck. Guo was able to see a good deal of one side of the damage; lots of the equipment and machinery that was being used. He took some pictures with my camera.
Normally, for most kids that would have been the end of the adventure. This boy stood out there in the less than desirable weather drawing his own conclusions for the process of moving the 3 engines, repairing the destroyed track and road way, and the equipment needed. How do I know this? Besides the fact he chattered about it all the way home, he also called his Baba to tell him what he had been doing and proceeded to explain to David what the men were going to need to do.
It was fun listening to him talk to his Baba. He was really digging deep in his English vocabulary using adjectives for the first time. He spoke for almost 10 minutes on the phone (a record), at times seemingly straining as if giving a major presentation to a group of hundreds. Occasionally, he would look at me and quietly say: "dui bu dui" ? (right/not right?).
Dui, Dui Xiao Guo!!
